Accessories distributor chosen to exclusively supply retailers with headphones developed by 50 Cent, and will also begin a national advertising campaign for the product

Kondor has been chosen as the exclusive UK supplier of a new range of headphones developed by rapper 50 Cent.

The headphones are manufactured by US audio headphone and accessories brand SMS Audio, of which 50 Cent is the CEO.

There are currently three products available, which include two sets of headphones, ‘SYNC by 50’ and ‘STREET by 50’, as well as a set of lowerpriced earphones, ‘STREET by 50 In-Ear’.

The premium wireless headphones, ‘SYNC by 50’, can be used up to 50 feet away from a mobile device and can sync up to four different users.

Other features include full on-board controls with bass boost, volume control and mute

Prepay handsets to range from entry-level devices to the ODM’s first to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Original device manufacturer (ODM) MOJO Maker will release seven prepay handsets in the UK and Ireland this year.

The firm’s SNapps, Flirt, Lite and Blah devices will go on sale before the end of June, the Ama-Zing will follow in Q3 and the Andromeda and Uber will be released in Q4.

MOJO Maker MD Caroline Preston said the devices will go on sale through a number of high street retailers and supermarkets. These could not be named at press.

The sub £40 SNapps handset will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread and includes a 3.2-megapixel camera and expandable memory of up to 32GB with a microSD card.

EU votes to slash roaming charges

Vote means from July 1 roaming charges will be capped at 24p per minute for calls, 7p per minute for texts and 58p per megabyte for data

Roaming charges within the European Union will fall significantly from July after the region’s parliament voted favour of imposing stringent caps.

After July 1 operators will only be able to charge 29 euro cents (24p) a minute to make a call, 8 cents (7p) a minute to receive a call, 9 cents (8p) to send a SMS message and 70 cents a megabyte (58p) for data usage.

Bluechipworld strikes deals with e-tailers to stock iT7x headphones

Product developed in partnership with endorsement company Stadia Sports and Lifestyle goes on sale   

Hardware manufacturer Bluechipworld has struck agreements with a number of major online retailers to sell its iT7x headphones.

The product went on sale through Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Play, Comet and Mobile Fun on April 28, priced at £149.99.

The iT7x headphones feature a 40mm hi-fi loudspeaker and noise cancellation technology. It can be paired with a smartphone using a Bluetooth connection to stream audio from the handset.

It has been built in partnership with Bluetooth chipset maker Cambridge Silicon Radio to provide technology to enable users to answer phone calls from their device.

Bluechipworld’s new range of headphones, which also includes the iT7x, along with the iT7, iT7 Sport headphones and iT7 Bluetooth Speaker System, have been developed in partnership with endorsement company Stadia Sports and Lifestyle – headed by former Aston Villa footballer Ian Taylor.

The remaining three products will go on sale in the coming weeks, with retail partners announced in due course.

Bluechipworld managing director Simon Hassell said: “The demand for iT7x headphones has been absolutely phenomenal, which is shown by the big names interested in selling this product. We’re already taking repeat orders from these retailers.”

O2 scores double Huawei handset exclusive

Operator to exclusively stock Huawei’s new Ascend Y 100 and G7105 handsets 

Huawei and O2 have struck an exclusive deal for the operator to sell the Chinese manufacturer’s new entry-level smartphone, the Ascend Y 100, from June 1.

The 10.9 mm thick Ascend Y 100 features a 2.8-inch screen, a 2 megapixel camera, an 800Mhz processor, and runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

The device will cost £80 on prepay, or free on a £10 per month contract.

O2 is also providing customers with free customisable rear covers for the Ascend Y.
